Kyrie

Picture
Photo by RODRIGO GONZALEZ on Unsplash
Sometimes my life opened its eyes in the dark.
It was as though crowds were moving through the streets
in blindness and fear on their way to a miracle
while I, invisible, remained standing still.

Like the child who falls asleep afraid,
listening to the heart's heavy steps.
Long, long until morning slips its rays into the locks
and the doors of darkness open.
Translator's note:
Kyrie eleison ("Lord, have mercy") is a Christian prayer used to ask for forgiveness or divine grace.
